When the news hit about Dragon Ball Z Kai returning to the broadcast realm on April 6th, 2014, it pretty much signaled another event as well as it was taking Toriko‘s place in the schedule. Now the confirmation has come down that the series that began back in 2011 will end the week before, just shy of 150 episodes. The series comes from the manga of the same name by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro that has been running in Weekly Shonen Jump since 2008 and has twenty-eight volumes released in Japan so far with no signs of slowing down. The manga has been licensed by Viz Media who just released the twentieth volume this month. FUNimation has the rights to the TV series in North America while Madman Entertainment has them in Australia. Crunchyroll has been simulcasting the series.

Series concept: In a world where the taste and texture of food is extremely important, individuals known as Bishoku-ya, specialize in the acquisition of rare ingredients and animals. Our protagonist, Toriko, possesses incredible strength and knowledge of the animal kingdom in order to fulfill his dream to capture the most precious foods in the world and create the ultimate dinner course. He is currently accompanied by a weak and timid chef who, inspired by Toriko’s ambition, travels with him to improve his culinary skills and find rare ingredients.
