If there’s something that hasn’t really gotten a huge amount of attention in anime over the years, it’s that of trains. Oh, sure, they appear in many series as a mode of transportation, but shouldn’t there be something more to it? Such is what we’ll see as Takumi Toyoday’s Rail Wars! Japanese Nation Railways Security Force light novel series has gotten the green light for an adaptation into anime. There are no details behind who will be handling the production or when it will debut. But we do have a look at the promotional video that was done by Sohgeisha Clear Bunko for the release of the seventh volume this past fall, which gives us a few clues to some of the style of it.
Plot concept: The “dream railway paradise entertainment” story is set in a parallel world where Japan did not privatize its national railways. Naohito Takayama is an ordinary high school boy who dreams of a comfortable future working for the top-rated Japanese National Railways. He is assigned as a trainee in the Railways Security Force full of odd characters such as Sakurai, a troublemaker who hates men. On top of that, an extremist group called “RJ” plots to privatize the Japanese National Railways.
