One anime series that just can’t get any traction here is that of Symphogear. After the first season was simulcast as part of a deal with Nico Nico and FUNimation, it didn’t get picked up for further release. And then a second season hit this year, which wasn’t simulcast at all anywhere legally. And now word has come out via the Symphogear 2013 Live event that a thidr series is in the work as well, which will likely hit some time in 2014. Merchandise sales must be strong and a motivating factor for another go-around, so be sure to head over to Crunchyroll which has a look at various bits of merchandise that’s available or coming soon that definitely plays to the shows fanservice strengths.
Plot concept: Two years ago, a pair of idols, Tsubasa Kazanari and Kanade Amou, collectively known as ZweiWing, fought against an alien race known as Noise using armor known as Symphogear. To protect a girl named Hibiki Tachibana, who got severely wounded by the Noise, Kanade sacrificed herself. Two years later, as Tsubasa has fought the Noise alone, Hibiki ends up gaining the same power as Kanade.
