Well, that’s never welcome news, but it does happen. With Jupiter Ascending set to hit on July 18th, 2014 and months of advertising and promotional materials out there, the project has been rescheduled for a February 6th, 2015 release date. With no details revealed by Warner Bros. as to why, the only thing coming out from other sources is that it’s visual effects related. Of course, the knives are out in the film community and a whole host of reasons are being brought up so this move will only further that aspect of it and build a heavy dose of negativity towards the film before it opens. Not that the Wachowski’s haven’t earned that in the eyes of many since their Matrix sequels, Speed Racer and Cloud Atlas. The last two of which I really enjoyed overall…
The film is set for a February 6th, 2015 release and is written and directed by Andy and Lana Wachowski. It stars Mila Kunis, Channing Tatum, Sean Bean and Eddie Redmayne.
Plot concept: From the streets of Chicago to the far-flung galaxies whirling through space, “Jupiter Ascending” tells the story of Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis), who was born under a night sky, with signs predicting she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.
