While originally planned for the fall, there’s been little word about the broadcast and distribution of horror anime series Pupa, to the dismay of many. Now it’s been revealed that the series has been shifted to the winter 2014 season by Studio Deen. The adaptation is based on the horror series that kicked off in 2011 by Sayaka Mogi and was originally set for broadcast alongside the release of the fourth volume of the manga that comes from Comic Earth Star.
Studio DEEN is producing the series and it will be directed by Tomomi Mochizuki, who directed a variety of shows from Here is Greenwood to Kimagure Orange Road and was also the creator for Fancy Lala. You can check out the official site as well as that’s live.
Plot Concept: The “life-and-death sibling” story follows Utsutsu and Yume Hasegawa, a boy and his little sister who find themselves all alone. One day, Yume sees a mysterious red butterfly and her body undergoes a strange metamorphosis—into a creature that eats humans. Utsutsu struggles to find a way to restore his sister.
