It’s the expected next stage in evolution for Crunchyroll as they’ve announced plans with Kodansha to offer manga on their service starting on October 30th, which will be available through the online site itself as well as various devices that run Android and iOS. The service will be available to 170 countries, excluding Japan, China, France, Germany, and Italy, where readers will get new chapters the same day as published in Japan. Free users will get them with ad support and only the latest chapters while paid subscribers will get the catalog chapters. Crunchyroll has not announced pricing themselves, but according to Nikkei, it will run $4.99 monthly at launch for the 12 titles that are planned and Crunchyroll and Kodansha intend to have over 50 titles by next summer.
