With the interest in the third and final Madoka Magica movie hitting and it getting a good release overseas, it’s no surprise that Aniplex Japan is gearing up to get the TV series a bit more notice. Only the first blush information has surfaced so far as there are no retailer listings or any idea what kind of extras will be included, never mind first press or limited edition items, but Puella Magi Madoka Magica is getting a Japanese complete TV series box set on December 25th. The set will retail for 26,250yen, so it’ll be a solidly collectible piece to be sure.
Aniplex USA has released the series in North America which is still available in its regular edition form on Blu-ray priced at $50 per volume.
Plot concept: “Has a loving family and best friends, laughs and cries from time to time…” Madoka Kaname, an eighth grader at Mitakihara middle school, lives such a life. One day, she has a very magical encounter. She doesn’t know if it’s by chance or by fate yet, but this meeting will change her destiny. This is the beginning of a new story of magical girls…
