While the Diamond Previews listings aren’t as inaccurate as they were a decade ago, there’s still a grain of salt to be taken some times. The latest round has surfaced and within it, for a planned January release likely (though I expect February may be more probable), Eureka 7 TV and theatrical feature are solicited for release on DVD and Blu-ray. The series, which was released previously by Bandai Entertainment, was one of the few big ones that went unmentioned over the summer as various titles from Sunrise and other BEI titles shifted to other distributors after Bandai Entertainment’s closure. With FUNimation releasing Eureka 7: AO, it’s pretty much a very good bet that they have this release and the pricing and style fits in with how they do it (combo pack for the movie, separate releases for the TV if it’s including the whole shebang). The original series ran for 50 episodes between 2005 and 2006.

Plot concept: For Renton, every day’s the same. Nothing happens, nothing changes. He goes to school, he goes home. The only thing that keeps him happy is lifting on his ref board. Then one day, a giant mecha called an LFO comes crashing down on him – literally. Inside is the most beautiful girl he has ever seen! The thing is, the girl is on the run from the military with her stolen mecha, and she’s brought trouble with her. Renton will have to summon up all his courage to face his childhood hero; get the girl he’s hopelessly smitten with to like him; and – oh yeah – live up to the legacy of his father who saved the world. But hey, at least it’s not boring anymore.
