Isaac Asimov’s ‘Foundation’ Series Manga Adaptation Released

Here’s one that seemingly flew under the radar that has started to get a bit more notice. Translated by Hiroyuki Okabe with artwork by Uzuki Kumazuki and Keitaro Kumazuki, a manga adaptation has been running for the classic Isaac Asimov series Foundation and has now been compiled. Published on September 20th by the SEldon Project, the work takes the original novels by Asimov and gives them a new life. Various attempts to film the novels in Hollywood have been done over the years but none have gotten past the pitch stage to anything resembling a production go, though they keep trying. While the source material is certainly dated – and especially with its heavy male focus owing to the readership of the time and the fledgling science fiction publishing industry – the series has been hugely influential alongside its tie-in to the various robot novels which gave us the Three Laws of Robotics as well as its own psychohistory field.

Chances of this getting released outside of Japan is probably pretty slim, but we really encourage folks to check out the novels.
