It’s a good time to be a part of the Dengeki Bunko team as they’re turning a significant number of their properties into anime form these days in order to bolster their position in the market. The latest one announced, this time at the Dengeki Bunko Fall Festival 2013, is the light novel series Black Bullet, whose sixth volume is set to land this month in Japan. The property began back in the summer of 2011 from Shiden Kanaki and Saku Ukai and is now on the fast track for an anime adaptation in 2014 by Kinema Citrus. The series has some great names behind it with Masayuki Kojima directing based on scripts by Tatsuhiko Urahata with character designs by Chihi Umishima. A brief cast list has also been revealed with:
- Rentarou Satomi – Yuuki Kaji
- Enju Aihara – Rina Hidaka
- Kagetane Hiruko – Rikiya Koyama
Plot concept: A near future, where humans have been defeated by the viral parasites named Gastrea. They have been exiled into a small territory and live in despair, side-by-side in terror.
In this world trapped in darkness—
Rentaro, a boy living near Tokyo and member of the “Civil Security”—an organization specializing in fighting against the Gastrea—is used to accomplishing dangerous tasks. His partner is Enju, a precocious young girl. They fight thanks to their peculiar powers until one day, when they receive a special assignment from the government. This top secret mission is to prevent the destruction of Tokyo…

About time! I just hope it follows up to the point where Rentaro is supposed to become a fugitive. I can’t find translated novels beyond Volume 1(or maybe it was 2), but I have seen the listing for it, and it seems extremely interesting. 😀
