While word surfaced during the start of the spring season this year, new information has arrived about the anime adaptation of Tonari no Seki-kun. The series, based on the manga of the same name by Takuma Morishige, is set for a Winter 2014 broadcast with Shinei Animation producing the work. The series in its manga form ran in the seinen magazine Comic Flapper, a Media Factory property, and began in 2010 with four volumes released so far. The series has some solid numbers so far as over a million copies have been sold as of this past spring in Japan. The initial details regarding the production appear to be that Yuji Mutoh will be directing while Masae Otake will be both character designer and animation director. The cast for the series will be revealed in early October in ComicFlapper.

Plot concept: These are the observations of Rumi Yokoi of her classmate, Seki Toshinari, from her point of view as he plays incredibly elaborate games at his desk (such as excavating fossils from a slab of dirt on his desk, petting cats, crocheting, etc.) and somehow never getting caught.
