Oh, controversy, it’s like it’s 2005 again where the complaints of setting anime dubbing back 30 years were bandied about. No, wait, that’s still being said. Anyway, Discotek Media has picked up the rights to release Ghost Stories in 2014 as a complete collection which will contain the original Japanese language track with faithful subtitles and the ADV Films dub that threw out the script (with licensor approval) and just had a hell of a lot of fun with it. The release, which was done at 5 discs at the time and has a complete collection that goes for several hundred dollars on eBay at the moment, caused quite the uproar at the time with detractors and defenders, purists and those who just wanted to have a good time.  Suffice to say, the outrage isn’t quite as likely this time, but there are those that do still want to see a faithful dub that will likely never get done.

No pricing or firm details are available at the moment beyond a planned 2014 release year.

Plot concept: The serious anime fan wants two things: to watch anime, and to learn everything they possibly can about Japanese culture. Finally, thanks to ADV , otaku can kill both birds with one stone! Introducing Ghost Stories,f a series that retells traditional Japanese, folk tales in a modern setting tailor-made for the anime fan!
