Anime Weekend Atlanta 2013 Announces World Premieres And Advanced Screenings

ATLANTA,GA- August 26, 2013- Anime Weekend Atlanta announces World Premieres and Advance Screenings presented by the anime industry this year.

To start with AWA 2013 is pleased to announce the first screening of the English dub of ONE PIECE: STRONG WORLD, the latest comedy adventure featuring long-armed Luffy D. Monkey and his band of merry pirates. Produced by Funimation Entertainment, this exciting movie has the gang attempting to rescue Shiki and Nami from a dangerous island full of monstrous creatures. This premiere will be introduced by CHRIS SABAT, the voice of Zoroi. Funimation will also be premiering at the con this year the English dubs of JORMUNGAND, the anime about a group of arms dealers, and MICHIKO & HATCHIN, in which two women chase down a man from their pasts.

Anime Weekend Atlanta is committed to presenting the best in new anime as well as educating fans about classic works. Funimation will contribute to mission with the debut of their Blu-ray re-master of SAKURA WARS: THE MOVIE at the con this year.

Right Stuf International will be premiering at Anime Weekend Atlanta for the first time with debut of their classic anime SPACE ADVENTURE COBRA. This crazy sci-fi TV series will be available on DVD in the coming months, but you can get a first look at Buichi Terasawa’s 80s classic of the space pirate who gets the riches and women, often referred to as James Bond in space.

Discotek Media will also be giving their first premiere screenings at Anime Weekend Atlanta this year with previews of two classics created by Go Nagai. CUTEY HONEY, the story of a beautiful female android ready to change clothes and kick butt in an instant, and MAZINGER-Z, the first heroic guy-in-giant-robot anime will be presented before their respective DVD box sets are release later this year.

Sentai Filmworks will add to the classic anime programming with SCIENCE NINJA TEAM GATCHAMAN being re-mastered for Blu-ray. This premiere of the 70s action series brought to the U.S. as Battle of the Planets will come 1 month before the box set is released.

Media Blasters will have their release of GIRLS VS BUTLERS on hand as well.

There will also be Advance Screenings of high-quality titles which have not been released on DVD or Blu-ray yet, including EVANGELION 3.0: YOU CAN (NOT) REDO, RURONI KENSHIN  Live Action Movie, FAIRY TAIL: THE MOVIE, TIGER AND BUNNY: THE BEGINNING,  WOLF CHILDREN, and AKIRA for its 25th anniversary.

Anime Weekend Atlanta 2013 will present these and other anime in addition to its lineup of various events and panels. This includes appearances by several International guests such as ZUN (creator of The Tohou Project),YUU ASAKAWA (singer for Vocaloid 2, seiyuu for Fate Stay Night, Azumanga Daioh, Record of the Lodoss War), MITSUO IWATA (Akira, Goldenboy, D.Gray-Man), fashion designer SHUNSUKE HASEGAWA (Putumayo) and musical group BLESS4 with AKINO (Sousei No Aquarion).

They will be joined by voice actors CHRIS SABAT (One Piece, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Dragon Ball Z), TODD HABERKORN (Fairy Tail, Hetalia Axis Powers), VIC MIGNONA (Full Metal Alchemist, Soul Eater) AMY HOWARD-WILSON (Star Blazers, Irresponsible Captain Tylor), and JOHNNY YONG BOSCH (Trigun, Bleach) with his music group EYESHINE.

Industry guests include comic creator JENNIE BREEDEN (The Devil’s Panties), manga translator CARL GUSTAV HORN (Evangelion, Golgo 13, Ghost In The Shell), animation director TIM ELDRED (Avengers Assemble, Ultimate Spider-Man) and producer DAVID WILLIAMS (Sentai Filmworks).
