Yuyushikie Episode 11
Yuyushikie Episode 11
When the weather takes a sour turn, the show turns to athletics and thoughts on the future.

What They Say:
Yuzuko, Yui, and Yukari, three girls who just started high school in spring, are always together. After school, the three of them attend their own “Data Processing Club” with two computers and a whiteboard between them, searching for random words on Google and then discussing the results. Their day to day life is mostly uneventful, mainly only consisting of girls flirting, but for some reason it’s difficult to tear one’s eyes away from this new generation of high school girls’ communication.

The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
There’s just something about rainy days while inside particular kinds of buildings, such as schools and offices, where the world just has a different feel. Seeing the girls here going thorugh their day with the darkened skies outside and the way that changes the atmosphere is a small but welcome tweak, though they do largely keep to who they are. Some of it plays off of Aikawa a bit as well, especially in the prologue when she has such an awkward accident and Yui can’t help but to feel her balance issues are related to her large breasts. All of this figures in nicely with the way the building feels and the general atmosphere, though the levity builds more as it goes on in more straightforward ways.

While the weather is weak, there’s still sports and other activities that come into play, which allows the girls to go through their physical education aspect. These are always amusing since they’re not exactly the most motivated of students and seeing them in their uniforms and talking about particular basketball style dream sequences is great. Getting them on the court in reality is really fun as well, especially since Yukari really can’t handle it and gets winded so easily and so quickly. Even Aikawa seemingly manages to handle the court better than Yukari, even when wounded. The show plays with this and some other basic school day kind of material before it shifts into the Data Processing Club aspect, but even that’s just kind of varied and vague with what it’s really trying to do, cute as it is at times.

Naturally, Mom shows up in the episode as well and provides some cute life lessons on how people deal with others, including adults. As the day goes on, we get more nods to the weather and I do find myself enjoying it, but we also get a bit of amusing dialogue as Yukari talks about the future and what it means, giving it a very light and airy feeling as we see someone who is a bit of a lightweight talking about her dreams and views of how things are done as adults. The girls are closing in on that odd place where in their lives they’ll be between two states, but they’re still in the childish state as you watch much of what’s done here and the kind of silliness they partake in.

In Summary:
The core trio continue to hold court here well as they deal with the weather and the way it can change attitudes through the general sense of atmosphere. There’s some fun things throughout, especially when Aikawa gets involved which surprises me, but it’s mostly the core trio that dominates here and you have to like on a basic level the kind of free association that gets done from time to time as it rolls through their day. Though the girls are still pretty much just basic archetypes, they’re the friendly and nice kind that makes it easy to connect with and enjoy, at least in limited weekly doses.
