Star Wars Thursday: Grill It Up Edition

2 min read

Star Wars Grill 1Welcome to this week’s edition of Star Wars Thursday, a celebration of all things fun, wild, and wacky in the Star Wars universe!

With the passing of Memorial Day here in the United States, summer barbecue season is in full swing. Lord Vader may be nervous due to his traumatic experiences around fire, but I’m sure everyone else would be happy to fire up the grill. Just take a moment to add a little Star Wars to your next gathering.

Artoo is a gadget master, able to assist his friends in almost any way. So I’m sure he’d be thrilled to know that you can create your very own R2-D2 smoker in his honor. Visit the Barbecue Tricks link to find out how to make it! Pulled pork with a side of motor oil, anyone?

Smoking your meat can take a long time, as my husband knows well. If you don’t feel like staying up all night to smoke your meat, how about acquiring your own moon? Wait, that’s no moon – that’s a Death Star grill! This one was crafted by Bryan Tate and sold on eBay after he read an article describing a failed Star Wars marketing idea.

Meat not your thing? Even if you do love a great burger, you’ll still need a fabulous dessert to end the meal and keep all those Rebels satisfied. Just Jenn Recipes is my go to source for delightfully geeky culinary treats. Cupcakes to celebrate the Battle of Yavin may be even better than handing out medals.

The party may end, but you can commemorate it forever in art on your wall. This print from the Etsy shop of kiwifruitbird will be a fond reminder of the perfect Star Wars barbecue.

Enjoy the summer months, my northern hemisphere friends. Until next week – may the Force be with you!
