After spending an episode in the belly of the beast, in quite the literal way, the girls have now managed to come together a bit more. That they finally worked together well and did what was needed helped a lot in making them feel more like a team. But it didn’t exactly make the show a must-watch yet either as there wasn’t exactly much compelling with the low rent animation and bland beyond words story. Just the CG animation for the dragon alone practically made me want to turn it off. But with that done, the girls are back to their normal lives for the moment and we see some of how they deal with things, such as Leviatan’s worry over where her brother disappeared to and Jormungand’s home life with all the kids that she takes care of, which definitely gets Syrop interested in what’s going on as there’s so much food.

The show is fairly mellow early on as we get to see a bit of Jorm’s life, which freaks out Syrop a bit since men are there as well and for many there are clear lines not to be crossed because of how men and women involved. But the show also plays things in an angle to for Syrop to move past that as the various “Dads” she has end up trapped under rubble underground and Jorm asks her to go and check on them while trying to make her own way down the mine. While Levi and Bahamut are ready to go all out to help with their powers, it’s a sensitive situation because of the structure of the ground, which requires the pint sized fairy to be the one to go investigate how they’re doing. Which is definitely hard for her to do considering her distrust of men.

Naturally, there has to be a reason for the cave-in that happens and there are some creatures to be had under there that they have to fight and deal with. This gives us the bit of action, sporadically, but mostly focuses on the challenges that Syrop has to face with the things that are after her as she does what she can to help the trio. There’s some humor to be had with it as well, such as when the girls get the device without realizing it and destroy it, but they also bring the dragon into play for a bit in a comical way, even if it does help out in the end. It’s all by the numbers with a few quirks owing to the particular style of the series, but that’s not exactly a benefit in my view. There’s certainly a different kind of view the show takes to doing things, but it’s more of a downside at this point.

In Summary:
Another episode of light and harmless material, though I can’t quite call it fun. It does feel a bit better put together than the first three episodes and it has a very basic and predictable story to tell, though it’s main focus seems to be just highlighting the gender differences and how some people view that in this world, where women grew wings and gained magic while men just got bigger and stronger, which has lead to some animosity for some while others are completely happy to interact with each other. The cave-in is standard material and seeing the girls handle it is decent, with Syrop being the main focal point, so it hits some decent notes and works alright, but certainly continues to be the least engaging series that I can think of for some time.
