Life as a desk worker at a hotel is a difficult yet fun job.
What They Say:
The series revolves around Sayuri Satō, the new front desk worker at the Sparrow’s Hotel — “the closest hotel to Heaven.” Her special features are her large breasts and her skills of assassination. She takes down people who cause trouble in the business hotel with those skills, but she is in fact very unskilled when talking to the male hotel manager, and often bites her tongue.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
One of the new short form series, clocking in at three minutes, the show introduces us to Sayuri, an attractive young woman who works for a living. Her job has her working as the desk employee at the Sparrow Hotel in the big city and she’s full of service for the visitors there, though she’s just overly polite and not really hinting at anything with anyone. But she keeps keys in her bra and is just so outgoing that people misinterpret her at times. To compensate, she’s also ridiculously strong and has a set of skills that allows her to deal surly and difficult guests of the hotel, which makes her quite useful to have around. We get to see a few instances of it and it’s certainly cute.
In Summary:
Against my better judgment, I’ve found myself really enjoying a lot of these short form series in the past year. Sparrow’s Hotel sets up a lot of things here with the characters, their personalities and the setting and it really does seem like it has a lot of potential. But like so many first episodes, it’s just a rush as we see Sayuri thrown into numerous situations without a chance to catch her breath in order to hook us on things. I can see some fun situations coming down the road for this show and am looking forward to it, but the opening episode isn’t one that will likely win over a lot of people. With basic information, basic animation and a fast pace, it moves quick and sets it up well enough but it doesn’t draw you in yet.
