What They Say:
Ageha and his fellow Psionists discover that their actions in the present may be altering the outcome of the future. Now everything they know – and everyone they love – is in danger, including their mentor Elmore Tenjuin. But their attempt to save their beloved Elmore is interrupted… by a sudden, jolting return to the Psyren world!
Content:
With the villains defeated and Kagetora rescued, it appears that our heroes have everything under control. Things take an unexpected turn, however, when Inui reveals that he is a member of W.I.S.E., working under the leadership of Miroku Amagi. It turns out that Inui is little more than a brainwashed puppet who’s had his memories erased, but while probing his mind it soon becomes clear that Inui’s brother has been dead for 20 years. Inui is killed when a strange tree erupts from his body, and Saburo reveals himself as Miroku Amagi by attacking Kyle. Kyle is easily defeated, and Ageha is forced to let Miroku go in order to save the life of the gravely injured boy.
Later on, after we find everyone resting in the hospital we learn that Kagetora released Inui’s accomplices and made sure that they wouldn’t cause any more trouble in the future. When our heroes decide to check the footage they retrieved from the future, they are shocked to find that it has changed. As the kids already met Miroku in the present, he and his accomplices appear before mankind unmasked. Unfortunately, despite being more prepared for the fight, the kids still meet a grim end, and we learn in the process that Elmore is going to die in a plane crash within the month.
Ageha rushes to the airport to try to save Elmore, but Nemesis Q appears in order to stop him. Ageha manages to steal Elmore’s bag, but Nemesis Q is puts out the call and our heroes are whisked away to Psyren before they can make any further attempts to change the future. Upon arriving in Psyren, our heroes quickly run into Dolkey and Shiner, who want to bring Ageha back to their headquarters. Shiner teleports the rest of the group elsewhere, leaving only Ageha and Kabuto to fight the powered-up Dolkey. As Dolkey underwent the risky procedure of introducing a second core, or Illuminus, he was able to power up enough to counter Ageha’s Melzez lance at the cost of his cutting his lifespan short. With his most powerful attack neutralized, how will Ageha ever be able to win against the new and improved Dolkey?
In Summary:
Things start to tie together in an interesting way with this volume, as it becomes more and more clear how the present ties to the world of Psyren. Meanwhile, we also finally get a look at the man behind the scenes, and he seems to be quite an intimidating villain. Add in a few more revelations and perils, as well as the all-out brawl at the end of the volume, and you have quite an enjoyable volume. Things really seem to be heating up with the series, and it will definitely be interesting to see the direction that things take from here on out.
