‘Dear Brother’ Anime Gets Hulu Distribution

1 min read

Hulu has nabbed a new anime series for its streaming distribution this week with the arrival of the series Dear Brother, aka Oniisama e. The show comes from Tezuka Productions and was aired for 39 weeks back in the summer of 1991 to 1992. The show is based off of the three volume manga series from Riyoko Ikeda that ran in the shoujo magazine Margaret. The series is presented subtitled only. It’s a series that has been requested regularly over the years but has never been licensed for home video distribution.

Plot Concept: Nanako Misonoo starts her first year at a private all-girls’ high school. She is asked to join an exclusive club called “The Sorority.” Because she seemingly doesn’t have the looks, talents or proper background for the club, Nanako faces animosity from the other students. Nanako recounts her experiences in a series of letters to Takehiko, a former tutor that she affectionately calls “brother,” but there may be more to her relationship with him than she realizes.
