Welcome to this week’s edition of Star Wars Thursday, a celebration of all things fun, wild, and wacky in the Star Wars universe!
The eyes of the world are focused on London for the summer Olympic Games. Watching the precision of the archers, the Wookiee-like strength of the weight lifters, and the Jedi reflexes of the fencers makes me long for a Star Wars marathon. A viewing marathon, just to be clear. I think I’d only actually run if being chased by a wampa.
Some Star Wars fans have been inspired by the Olympics as well. Let’s start with an amazing set of images created by Alan Chia (713 Avenue) on Flickr, which includes the top image. I first spotted them on Geeknation, and then checked out the whole set for myself. Be sure to stop back later during the games, as he is adding photos daily.
I think the Stormtroopers may need to do some additional accuracy drills before they show up for the archery competition though, judging by their typical performance.
This one shows the efforts the ‘troopers are making toward bulking up so they can defeat Chewie in feats of strength. Clearly they haven’t yet learned to let the Wookiee win.
While I’m on the topic of Wookiees, am I the only one who chuckled while watching the men’s archery competition? I’m positive my husband and sons got tired of me grinning every time Wukie took a shot.
