Angel & Faith #11 Review

2 min read

Hey, hey, the gang’s all here!

What They Say:
When yet another unexpected visitor shows up on Faith and Angel’s doorstep, the pair are pulled into a quest that has the potential to give Angel everything he’s been looking for—you know, if they succeed and survive.

The Review:
This issue was overflowing with things to love. While there wasn’t a lot of action, the story still felt like it moved along quickly. It was filled with humor, new arrivals, and witty dialogue that captured the spirit of the characters already in the story as well as the ones who are just now joining (or rejoining) the team.

I was thrilled with all the characters that showed up to join this team for this arc. Having Willow join the action was very satisfying. I loved her interactions with Faith and Angel. I adored how important she is to the story that is beginning. The way she explained her reasons behind restoring the seed of magic to the world made it seem so much more important than just the restoration of magic. Yes, we knew about zompires. But the lack of magic in the world has had even bigger implications. Her scene with Nadira brought tears to my eyes. I just love Willow.

Bringing Gun and Connor into the fight was also a wonderful touch. Gun was written very well, and I could hear his voice through the dialogue. Connor is amazing. Okay, he was drawn to be extremely attractive. It was more than just his gorgeous face, though. His willingness to take risks to help the world – all while maintaining a positive outlook on life – brings some needed happiness into the mix. I love the broody vibe that both Angel and Faith have, but it’s nice to have Connor balance them out with his positivity.

The final panel left me grinning and wishing that I had the next issue to read right now. The gang, all together, is ready to take on the universe – or another dimension at least.

In Summary:
If you were looking for a great jumping in point for Angel and Faith; this is it. This issue marks the beginning of a new arc, and gives just enough references to past events to get anyone caught up. Along with the start of a new major plot line, we are treated to the return of several well-loved characters from the past. While the story is a little light on action this month, the dialogue is sharp, and the characters are well developed. We are left with a well-defined problem to be solved and the promise of continued humor and a pick-up in the action level on the horizon. I’m already looking forward to the rest of this journey!
