Yurumate3Dei Episode #14 Anime Review

Nothing changes the way someone deals with things like introducing family into the moment.

What They Say:
The Birthday Playoff

With Sae’s younger sister having arrived, with no dialogue in the previous episode no less, she’s now inserting herseful fully into her sisters life. And in an amusing way since she knows all the things that were moved to Yurume’s room is actually her sisters and doesn’t intend to leave until it’s all taken care of. Of course, she’s also there because it’s her birthday, which leads to the girls trying to have a spot of fun for her, not that it works well since the kid seems to never crack a smile no matter what they do. Even the endlessly funny Matsukichi doesn’t generate any laughs until they devolve to some wonderful physical comedy. The addition of the sister, even for a little bit, brings in some very cute bits and makes for some real fun here.

In Summary:
Yurumates has managed to keep its cast small and spot on for the first season that it ran without introducing a bevy of other supporting characters. Sometimes it works, like it does in Poyopoyo, but other times it just dilutes things. Bringing in Sae’s younger sister is a spot on plus for me as she’s quiet for most of it but says volumes in a lot of ways with the few cutting remarks. You can see a lot of the family bond here to be sure and it looks like she’s here for the short term at least, which should shake things up a bit.
