The gruesome foursome is definitely becoming a group that you don’t want to get too involved with considering how they treat each other. They get pretty up into each others faces when it comes to things going on and we’ve seen Yurume go far in getting ready to take down a supposed friend, or at least fellow resident. Life is hard for this group and they fight hard for what little good seems to come their way. Such is the ase when there’s only one ice cream stick left among the four of them and it turns into a competition to see who can get it. It’s like endurance tests gone wrong in some ways but it also goes in more traditional areas. Seeing them in competition with each other and the lengths they go to is just more silly fun.
In Summary:
Three minute shows continue to be one of the oddest things to deal with but shows like Yurume really do manage to make it work better than I expected. The characters here are just a step or to shy of being completely crass with each other it feels like, so when something as simple as who gets the last ice cream stick comes along, you can see it escalating easily and quickly. It doesn’t go too far here, but it has some good fun by bringing in some pain and heartache along the way for this silly, silly group of people that I want to see more of.
