Having seen the dark path that Yurume has gone down since coming to Maison du Wish, it’s not a surprise that she’s also getting into the violent nature of some of the other residents. This episode brings a summer beach time favorite sport of whacking a watermelon into the apartment complex and the apartment itself as the usual gruesome forusome get together to really go at it. It’s comical with them having a variety of weapons to go at it while blindfolded. The girls get to go at it well but the poor guy just has no luck with the way he’s bound and gagged in order to do it. Yurume and the girls have a lot of fun with this in general but they continually just prove how inept they are when it comes to splitting open a watermelon.
In Summary:
Yurumates has a fun setup here but it doesn’t execute it as well as it could. The idea of this group going at a watermelon should be riddled with laughs, even if they do shift it from being an outdoor event to an indoor one. And there are cute moments, but it just doesn’t connect well. The girls have silly moments but after seeing some of the cold and brutal things they’ve done to each other so far within normal events, they seem rather tame here with what they’re going to do to this poor watermelon. It just feels like they missed the mark by enough to weaken the premise overall.
