Viz Media License Rescues ’07-Ghost’ Manga From Go! Comi

2 min read

With Go! Comi having started to release 07-Ghost back at the end of 2008, it didn’t take long for the whole thing to fall apart with the publisher going out of business. Now it looks like Viz Media has picked up the rights to the manga series by Yuki Amemiya and Yukino Ichihara that runs in the josei magazine Monthly Comic Zero Sum, a magazine that Viz Media typically doesn’t operate out of. Go! Comi published the first four volumes through the summer of August 2009 and it looks like Viz Media will start working on the series with plans for the first two volumes to hit in November of this year and January of next year for the ongoing book.

An anime adaptation of the series was done in the spring and summer seasons of 2009 by Studio Deen with twenty-five episodes produced that have not been licensed. It did get streamed via Crunchyroll and is still available there. (h/t to John Rose for the note on that!).

Plot Concept: Teito Klein is a top-grade military academy student with unsurpassed skill in the magic of Zaiphon. But when word reaches him that the officials at his school were behind the murder or his father and the fall of his birth kingdom, he flees to find a way to make things right again… and finds help in the most unlikely place: the Church. The mysterious bishops there may be the answer he needs to learning secrets about himself he never knew, and the truth behind the legendary protectors of the state: the Seven Ghosts.
