‘Medaka Box’ Anime Cast & Premiere Announced

Announced awhile back but with no firm premiere date, it’s now been revealed via the official site that Medaka Box will starts its broadcast run on April 4th as part of the Spring 2012 anime season. The series fits neatly into the box of school based action comedy show based on the manga of the same name by NisiOisin and Akira Akatsuki. The cast has been announced with Emiri Katou playing Hansode Shiranui, Daisuke Namikawa will play Kouki Akune, and Ai Kayano will play Mogana Kikaijima. Aki Toyosaki will take on the role of Medaka as well as provide the ending song vocals.

When it comes to the all important opening song, it’s been revealed that Minami Kuribayashi handle those duties with the song entitled “Happy Crazy Box.” She’s handled a number of songs like this before and was involved with the recent Gundam AGE opening as well as many others.

The series is a Gainax production with Shouji Saeki serving as the director and script editor while character designs are being handled by Ikuo Kuwana.

Plot Concept: Medaka, the strongest girl in Hanokiwa Academy, leads the school’s student council. The student body can submit pleas for help, 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, into the suggestion box that Medaka installed. Together with council members Zenkichi, Akune, Kikaijima, she takes on the challenges in the school that include supernatural powers and near-constant battles.
