What They Say:
Yotsuba loooooves playing games! When Daddy’s the counter in hide-and-seek, he can never find Yotsuba, ‘cos I’m such a good hider! And when we go to the park, Yotsuba’s the bestest at swing-tag-shoe-races. Daddy says Yotsuba’s making up the rules as we go along, but Yotsuba thinks Daddy’s just a sour loser. But maybe Yotsuba will let him win once in a while…

The Review!
Yotsuba’s odd tendencies continue to emerge when she decides to play with her blocks, using them as food and a segue way to a game of hide and seek. Afterwards, Yotsuba goes with her dad to the park to play some more, and ends up meeting with Ena while there. Next, Yotsuba decides to make pancakes, only for Yanda to appear!

Later, Jumbo shows up and learns that he was left out of the fun with the hot air balloons, but soon gets over it and gives Yotsuba a gift: a book full of animal pictures! Yotsuba returns to her strange block-using habits and makes a zoo before falling asleep. Afterwards, Yotsuba joins Fuuka for an antics-filled day at the electronic store.

When Yotsuba borrows Fuuka’s exercise ball, things take a turn for the dangerous as Yotsuba unintentionally wrecks an assortment of dishes. Yotsuba realizes she cannot pay for the damages, and, thinking quickly, blames it on the ball and a magic trick person. Somehow, her father sees through the cunning ruse, and Yotsuba blames the lies on the lying bug inside her. Unwilling to let the evil bug reside in his daughter, Yotsuba’s father decides to scare it out of her, only for Yotsuba to admit she was lying all along.

Upon going to Miura’s house with Ena, Yotsuba almost has her childhood innocence crushed when she both learns that Miura isn’t a princess, and sees a lifeless and empty Danbo. Fortunately, Ena and Miura manage to revive him, allowing Yotsuba to have a fun day with her cardboard robot friend.

In Summary:
This book makes for another fun volume of Yotsuba and her antics. Yotsuba remains every bit as loveable and wacky as ever, and as always it’s great to see her interact with new things and people. While this volume may be just a tad less hilarious than some of the other volumes, the chapter about lying actually contains a rather touching little moment, and the final chapter is a particularly fun display of Yotsuba’s childish innocence. If you’re a fan of Yotsuba, then this volume certainly won’t disappoint, and is sure to bring plenty of laughs.
