‘Harry Potter’ Director To Tackle ‘Dr. Who’ Movie

2 min read

Sometimes news just comes out of strange places with subjects you never expected. Cast in point, a Harry Potter director is set to tackle a Dr. Who movie, and thankfully it isn’t Chris Columbus. David Yates revealed to Variety that he’s gearing up to jump into this franchise which has achieved a lot of worldwide attention the last few years after it got kickstarted again after being down for awhile. With the rotating cast of Doctors and an American audience that’s actually appreciative of the work this time, they’ve managed to get some good audience numbers on it both in England and abroad. At this stage, there aren’t too many details on it but what’s come down primarily is that they’re not going to follow the TV series, which makes sense since this will take a few years to get done, and they’er going to do a fresh approach to it.

Here’s a couple of the money quotes that have come out so far:

“We’re looking at writers now. We’re going to spend two to three years to get it right. It needs quite a radical transformation to take it into the bigger arena.”
