Fans of Takehiko Inoue’s work on Vagabond may not have too much more of a wait when it comes to that series. Inoue has announced his intention to get back onto the book with new layouts being prepared for the next installment of the series. The book went on hiatus back in early 2010 with no specific word on how long it would be on hiatus. Plans for its return haven’t been finalized publicly when it comes to its publisher, but it’s expected that considering its overall popularity and the prestige it brings due to the awards that it’s won that it’ll find its home there soon enough. The US print run via Viz Media has released through volume 33 as of the end of October 2010 but they’ve also been releasing the BIG editions which contain multiple volumes of the series, clocking in with an average of 650 pages per volume, making it the ideal way to catch up quickly on the book, especially since the first original volume came out during the early 2000’s.
Plot concept: Real-life figure Miyamoto Musashi was the most celebrated samurai of all time. The quintessential warrior philosopher, Musashi authored A Book of Five Rings, a theoretical guide to military strategy still used today by modern-day businessmen. But the path to enlightenment in feudal era Japan was fraught with peril. At 17 years of age, Musashi – still known by his childhood name Shinmen Takezo – was a wild young brute just setting out along the way of the sword.
