NTV is starting to get things rolling for its upcoming broadcast of the new Hunter x Hunter series which is starting from the beginning again and is intended to run for several seasons (with hopes of it going further as well). The series is kicking off on October 2nd in Japan and is based on the manga of the same name that is still ongoing with twenty-nine volumes to its name by Yoshihiro Togashi. The previous run of the anime was done back in 1999 and ran for 62 episodes and then had thirty episodes released direct to video after that. Viz Media previously released only the TV series here and has released the manga as well.

Plot concept: Hunters are a special breed, dedicated to tracking down treasure, magical beasts, and even humans. But such pursuits require a license, and less than one in a hundred thousand can pass the grueling qualification exam.

Gon might be a country boy, but he has high aspirations. Despite his aunt’s protest, Gon decides to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a legendary Hunter. The journey begins on the long, arduous road to the Exam Hall, where he meets Leorio and Kurapika, two applicants with the same determination. Gon and his two companions must now prove their worth and earn the right to call themselves Hunters!
